August of 2021, the Taliban took over Afghanistan and rose to power. Soon enough started aggravating the humanitarian crisis. Civilians had to flee and human, women's rights were endangered.
In March of 2022, on International Women's Day, we gathered women from Afghanistan for a roundtable discussion. Housewives, reporters, dressmakers, and teachers all gathered together to share their experiences under this regime where getting an education as a woman is almost impossible. We listened to these powerful women and how despite the restrictions they did their best to even if secretly but still provide girls some education.
These heroic women's stories brought us closer and reminded us of what exactly International Women's Day was and still is.
